Stitch VariationsMost crochet stitch patterns are made up of basic stitches. However different effects can be created by varying slightly just one stage in the standard stitch-making procedure, for example the position of the basic stitch and/or manner of inserting the hook into the fabric. There are many variations and combinations and these are usually given with the pattern.
